4 Tips for a Successful Fall or Winter Home Sale
If you plan to put your home on the market during the fall or winter, following these four tips will boost your shot at success.
The temperature is dropping and the leaves are changing, and the real estate market is also undergoing a transformation. Selling your home during the fall or winter is a great idea, but there are a few tips you’ll need to keep in mind if you plan to do so. Here are four of the most important:
1. Don’t overdecorate. Fall and winter decor can add a festive flair to your home listing, but make sure your seasonal touches don’t border on tacky.
2. Boost your curb appeal. Like your home’s interior, your home’s exterior should look great. A few simple accents can go a long way. Also, beyond just decorating your front porch, you should be mindful to keep your yard and walkway clear of leaves and snow. Fantastic curb appeal is the best way to ensure a good first impression.
Make sure buyers feel warm and welcome during showings.

3. Go easy on the gore with Halloween decor. Though the holiday has already passed this year, those who plan to sell in 2020 should be careful not to make their yard look too much like a house of horrors when listing during the fall.
4. Let in plenty of natural light. The days are growing shorter, so make the most of the daylight hours while they last. Your home should always be brightly lit so that potential buyers feel warm and welcome during showings.
